How to break a "Big Wheel" apart

In the Pay Box several small items are beig loaded.

In the control room flags, flood lights and tools.

The cars are puton a small car and rolled to the front of the wheel where the cranelifts them on the trailer. If at nighttime the crane and trailer can't reach the wheel, the cars are put onthe floor and loaded the next morning .

The roofs are hung on the side of the Car trailer.

The 'T-Irons' are put up.

For better stability the wheel is pressurised up to 600 bar! Here you see the pressure being taken off.

Then we stop to start early in the morning.

This is be backflash and the supprtstays for the handrails. (photo: Jan)

The cars are loaded in 4 crates, each for 6 cars.

On top of those cates go the 3 Front floors.

We lower the upgoing floorsso we have a flat work area.

The side panels go on this rack and the floors are put over them.

One by one, the 'banana's' are taken from in between the spokes.

These photo's show how we take the spokes out of the wheel. Half way the spokes these stays form a smaller circle. Here Eric climbs from one side to the other to lower the stays and then he goes to the axle to take the pins out so the spokes can be lowered by the winches. (foto: Mark)

The spokes are kept in placeby big pins in the axle. The big blue ring makes sure the pins stay i the axle.

The spokes are puton special trolley's.

Then the spokes are rolled to the front where the crane puts themon the trailer.

If all spokes are onthe trailer the trolley's are taken apart.

And will be loaded on the new spoke trailer season 2007.

The motors go to the trailer. To keepthemin balancesomeone has tot sit on the motor.

Each motor has it's own place and is numbered so the can't be mixed up.

Before the axle can be removed the 'sun' has to be lowered.

Its loadedon the side panels.

The stay for the sun goes in front of the cars.

When the axleis gone, the pin goes back and is secured.

On the ladder you see the cable that held the platform.

Before the axle is removed the platforms are secured against the mast.

Then we lower the wire cable from the winches.

The axle goes between the motors.

The mast 'folds'when lowered soone piece of lights is taken of.

Pins are taken out so the mast can be lowered.

This part hangs loose while the other part is hooked on.

Her you see the mast hanging on wire cable and the pins removed.

The lowering goes slow and careful.

The wire cable has tobe straight above the mast at all times.

During lowering somebody tells the crane driver if the cable is good and straight against the mast.

When the mast is almost down tis little wheel is put under it so is can mave a little to the outside.

When lowered the platform can be taken of.

Next to the small railing you see the cable that holds the platform in it's place.

The platform is put behind the controlroom for now.

When the second mast is lowered the platforms are put on top of eachother.

The ladders are being taken off.

Stays of the ladders and their pins are put in this box.

The ladders are strapped on the platforms.

The mast lights are put ina box on the car trailer.

The mast parts are numbered on trailer order.

These are the first 8 of 16.

Als alle mastdelen geladen zijn zijn er 3 lagen, 2 van 6 en een van 4 mastdelen.

Thhese are the stays for the roof that is over the pay box. The smaller parts and the canvas are on topof the pay box.

With the front madt gone, the crane can easily remove the floors.

The floors go on the car trailer.

The floors are marked with a V so we can put them in place facing the right way.

The rack with sidepanels and sun goes on the floors.

The control room is taken outside of the base.

Jan connects thewire cable so he can remove the pin with the handle on it.

Here we take the pin out of the mast.

This part is hanging loose while the other one is connected .

The mast is lowered with heavy wire cable.

Also a wheel for this mast.

This wheel is higher tan the other because in this case the floor is already gone.

The mast parts are loaded on the trailer.

If all mast are on, the stays for the backflash go on.

Then we put support stays on the trailer.

On these stays the base is loaded.

Here the first base parts are on the trailer.

When the long base parts are there, wooden blocks are put down to hold the other base parts.

On other wooden blocks the backflash is put.

A big rack holds winches and crates in place.

Here the second winch is put in place.

The corner water tanks are placed over the axle and motors.

The middle watertanks are loaded on their side.

The the backflash is loaded on.

The platforms with the laddres are on top of the trailer.

The smallcrate fits on the bigger one.

Woodbox and crates are in their place.

The extra handrails are the last to go on the trailer.

Ready for departure.
